When I used to work at a community mental health agency with children and adolescents, I often taught them about the importance of having a “toolbox” of coping skills when it comes to managing anxiety and depression. This is also true for high-functioning anxiety, and is so important because in moments of increased stress and anxiety (or decreased mood) is when it’s often the most difficult to access the tools that will help you feel better. And when you have a toolbox of techniques and tools at the ready, you don’t even have to think about it. You will know what to do to feel better and manage the moments of overwhelm, anxiety, and stress that come up. In this episode I will share 7 techniques to feel calm and grounded that you can add to your self-care toolbox.
