Something everybody struggles with is weight gain and weight loss. It’s the primary reason people come to see a health coach in the first place, even if it’s not the biggest result people will see.

Nagina Abdullah is a health coach for female professionals, corporate executives, and 7-figure entrepreneurs, and the founder of MasalaBody.com. She teaches tested and perfected metabolism-boosting strategies to help women lose 20-40 pounds while working 60+ hours a week, even if they have tried everything else.

Nagina has a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, an MBA from NYU Stern, AND worked for a top four consulting firm as a management consultant before starting her health coaching business. She has been featured in Health.com, Business Insider, People.com, and many more.

What is wrong with our weight loss industry today?

The biggest problem with weight loss is an obsession with diets. People often don’t think about what they’re eating until they hit a point where they hit a diagnosis or something makes them realize they are unhappy in their body, and this kicks in a sense of urgency to lose as much weight as fast as possible. We’re all sold the idea that diets are the quickest and easiest way to lose weight, so we typically end up following one. But diets are based around restriction without teaching you how to eat filling foods. Not to mention, when food is restricted you end up wanting it more!

Nagina recommends that instead of dieting, we focus on creating tiny changes that result in an overall lifestyle change. The only way to make these changes last is to have a lifestyle transformation by going deep on changing your habits.

How do we get these changes to stick?

In order to make dietary changes that last, you have to enjoy the food that you eat. If you feel like you are punishing yourself with your food, you will always find excuses to treat yourself and go back to those guilty pleasures.

The best way to start eating more vegetables and making sure you and your family enjoy them is to use spices. Besides having the power to make any vegetable taste delicious, spices also have so many health benefits.

Cinnamon, for instance, has the ability to lower your blood sugar levels and store less fat in your body. It also gives you the sugar fix without actually using any sugar.

Turmeric is another fantastic one with anti-inflammatory capabilities. Inflammation is a huge cause of body aches and health problems, not to mention visible puffiness and bloating.
