Luke is joined by fellow Muscle Mentor, James Sutton and the magnificent Gary McGowan (@SkinnyGaz) on this special, roundtable episode of the podcast to talk through the biomechanical considerations surrounding the Barbell Romanian Deadlift (RDL). We initially delve into some key terminology within the realms of Exercise Mechanics and the incredible RTS Programme (founded by the mighty Tom Purvis). From here, we then transition into talking about the RDL and all the differing manners in which we can apply modify the challenge throughout this movement using bands. From here it was a case of breaking down each application and then establishing how each fit into programming and if any variation is able to provide a more efficient way to challenge the hip extensors within the gym. Within this discussion we cover the infamous hip-banded RDL variation and why it may not be the best option with respect to maximising your efficiency within the gym. It was a true honour having this discussion with James and Gary, and if the response is positive, we will aim to make these a more regular occurrence. Both men possess incredible experience and insight into the area of exercise mechanics. Hopefully this was translated well over the podcast. If you enjoy the episode, please leave a rating and review, and share it with someone who you feel could benefit from the content. Thanks for listening people :).
