In this episode I talk about the toxic behaviors that a person in your life may be exhibiting that are warning signs that you may be in an abusive relationship. Toxic relationships can be both romantic and familial and in this episode, I explore what that can look like. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the U.S. and in this episode I share a bit about my own experience as a survivor of intimate partner violence and family violence. It has always been my promise to be open, honest, and vulnerable in this podcast and teach through the power of storytelling and that is what this episode is all about. You may have an unhealthy relationship with a parent, romantic partner, sibling, coworker, or other person in your life and not realize it. This episode will hopefully help you determine whether you are experiencing abuse in your relationships and how to spot the red flags.

In this episode I cover the different types of abuse which are:

verbal abuse

psychological abuse

emotional abuse

physical abuse

financial abuse

sexual abuse

image-based abuse

religious/spiritual abuse

harassment/stalking

reproductive abuse

If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship and would like to begin counselling services, you can book a consultation call with me by clicking here.

If you are in crisis, you can reach out for support and resources to your local domestic violence crisis center (if available) or call or text one of the below hotlines or the hotline in your country. Below are the national hotline numbers for Australia and the U.S.

Australia 1800- RESPECT

U.S. 1-800-799-7233

Please be careful when sharing this episode as a resource for someone who may be in a dangerous situation. If you found this episode helpful, you can help others find it by leaving a review on Apple Podcasts. I would greatly appreciate your help in raising awareness about domestic violence, not just this month but every month.

If you're not in crisis but are looking to begin to heal your relationship with self-care so that you can put your mental health first, you can find my workshop called Soul-Care Vs. Self-Care here. Finding the types of Soul-Care that worked for me have been a huge part of my healing journey and now I teach others in this workshop how they can do the same.
