Episode 199 with Andrew Hammond plus the True L20.2 Offshore line
Manage episode 351221617 series 2495725
Episode 199 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a deep-dive conversation on the career of recently retired NHL goalie Andrew Hammond.
In the feature interview, presented by Sense Arena, Hammond takes you into -- and well beyond -- his historic 2015 run with Ottawa that saw him called up from the minors to go 20-1-2 with a .941 save percentage, backstopping the struggling Senators to a previously unimaginable playoff spot while fans threw McDonald's hamburger on the ice to celebrate his "Hamburglar" nickname from college.
While that run made Hammond famous, it's far from the more fascinating part of his journey, which included uncertainty beyond his time playing tier-2 junior hockey in BC, then the same unsettled future towards the end of his NCAA career at Bowling Green. Hammond shares valuable lessons from each step, as well as from his time in the NHL before and after the Senators run, and the reason he felt he played better when he was at the highest level, including a .939 see percentage with the Colorado Avalanche in the 2018 playoffs, and a .920 with the Montreal Canadiens just last season, before suffering an ankle injury that ultimately forced him to announce his retirement last week.
All that, plus a trip to the new location of The Hockey Shop Source for Sports (now in Langley) for a look at the recent arrival of the new True 20.2 offshore line "Designed by Lefevre."
