In this week's episode, my guest Jessica Patay, shares the unique challenges of raising a child with a rare genetic disorder. Jessica is the founder and executive director of We are Brave Together, a nonprofit organization that supports caregiving moms with children of all types of disabilities and neuro-diverse diagnoses.

Jessica highlights the importance of vulnerability and the value of community connections for caregivers. Through her story, Jessica inspires mothers to reject cultural pressures and instead focus on nurturing resilience and life skills in their children.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Community support and vulnerability are essential for caregivers facing unique family challenges.
  2. Transitioning to adult services requires adjustment and advocacy, especially for siblings and family dynamics.
  3. Focusing on resilience and life skills over achievement can empower children with disabilities to navigate stress and setbacks.
