Episode Summary:

Today’s episode is the first in a two-part series, and it’s something I’ve been wanting to cover since before I started this podcast nearly two years ago. I’ve learned a lot over the last 20 years about childhood development, and now that I’m a mom I’ve noticed that a LOT of that information is incredibly helpful to know. There are so many situations where I would normally lose my cool with my kids, but since I have certain information about what’s REALLY going on with them, I’m able to address their behavior in a healthier and more effective way. I wanted to share some of these key pieces of information with you too. Hopefully knowing some of this will give you some insights that will help you know how to navigate those difficult moments with your kids. To help me dive even more into this topic, I’m excited to welcome Julia Pappas, an expert in child psychology and parent coaching.

Julia Pappas is a Cognitive Psychologist, Parent Coach, and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. She has over 15 years of experience working with parents and their children, and has particular expertise in child development, behavioral regulation, and learning needs. Julia believes in the power of parents to change the world by being the best resource, inspiration, and support they can be to their children. She empowers parents to own their mission, discover limiting beliefs and parenting blocks, and helps develop essential skills so that parents can have the most fulfilling years of their life while raising children.

(Editor's Note: I inaccurately refer to Julia Pappas as a doctor in this episode. To clarify, Julia Pappas has her Advanced Graduate Studies degree, but has not earned a doctorate).
