SUMMARY:
Huck and Jim go to making the pens while Tom Sawyer comes up with the coat of arms. Neither Huck nor Jim knows what a coat of arms is, so Tom tries to explain what it is by coming up with one for Jim. Tom comes up with one and tries to explain the design to them, but they don’t really understand what everything is supposed to me; Tom says it isn’t important, however. Tom then decides that carving the inscriptions into the wood isn’t going to do. They need stone. So Huck and Tom set off to the mill and steal the grindstone. It is incredibly heavy though, and they nearly crush each other wheeling it home. When about halfway home, they break Jim out to help him get the grindstone back. Before going to bed, Tom asks if Jim has any spiders or snakes around, and on Jim’s saying “No,” Tom says that they will get him one. Jim greatly protests this, but Tom is very persuasive and convinces him to do it.
