She’s on a quest to change conversations that have shamed a lot of women. Meet Heather Stark. She owns a company called Grace and Grit and she focuses on women who created ripples that have changed so much for women. We talk about being born "being enough" and ridding the shields and armors that come from society and to live an authentic life. She thought she was broken and when analyzed why she felt that way, it came down to driving forces from the beauty culture. In middle school she started self harm because she thought she wasn’t pretty enough to start middle school. She has been able to make it through that experience and turn it into something she could give to other girls. She wrote a book called “Her Story” which is insightful and calls for us to see beauty milestones as conversations to be be had and not expectations, rather opinions. She looks at the origins of thoughts and expectations that came to women, parents and girls through our culture.
Heather believes that there has to be conversations. But one conversation that is startling is where the ideals fall in and are created of what we are not.
You’ll hear a deep discussion of anorexia nervosa and Heather’s walk with that disease. People in her life whom she trusted and who had impact are important to her even today. She truly opens up to discuss what she deals with every day of her life. There is much to take in and think on throughout this episode. Please listen! Learning to be okay on the journey is a part of the journey.
You’ll hear us talk about relationships and giving each other space and be active in the rises and falls of the relationship. We talk about life wishes and tools to learn more of yourself. Tune in!
