Can AI compress the years long research time of a PhD into seconds? Research scientist Max Jaderberg explores how “AI analogs” simulate real-world lab work with staggering speed and scale, unlocking new insights on protein folding and drug discovery. Drawing on his experience working on Isomorphic Labs' and Google DeepMind's AlphaFold 3 — an AI model for predicting the structure of molecules — Jaderberg explains how this new technology frees up researchers' time and resources to better understand the real, messy world and tackle the next frontiers of science, medicine and more. I love getting ads online, but when I say ads I mean the kind showing me some shorts I’d like to buy, not the kind that tell me my business sucks and I need to hire a coach to make it suck less. Coaching is great—I am one!—but there are people out there that sow insecurity with their ads and promise a magic pill that will fix all your woes if you just give them money. Bullshit. If you’ve seen an ad that makes you feel insecure, it might be worth looking in to, but there’s a chance it’s worth ignoring, too. Let’s chat. Welcome to Maestro on the Mic, a podcast that helps online business owners find their passion, generate more profit, and build a life that they love. When the work is as shitty as it is right now, how the hell do you get the people around you to start caring? Well, you don’t. You can’t! It’s frustrating and at times demoralizing, but y’all know I’m all about taking ownership of what you CAN control, instead of allowing yourself to become a victim of circumstance. In the same way that history is written by the victors, the social narrative gets decided by the best storyteller. The way the story gets told changes the way that the story is received, which directly effects the outcome of any given situation. When liars, racists, or any other genre of assholes are telling the story, we get a shitty outcome. When we know this, we have a say in deciding who controls the narrative. Let’s chat. Running an online business sometimes feels like like walking to and from your destination uphill, both ways. Whoever came up with the idea to “charge your worth” didn’t know what the hell they were talking about. I’m it’s well intentioned and it’s a saying to encourage others to charge more for their services, but “worth” is something ill-defined and highly subjective. Wouldn’t it be better to charge what you need? Because damn it, well deserve to make enough to live our best lives. Let’s chat. In your business, in your activism, and in your life, you can’t do it all. The world doesn’t need another Joe Rogan. But that doesn’t mean podcasts are dead, and it doesn’t mean what you have to say is unimportant, either. There are plenty of podcasts out there, but only a small portion of those are actually GOOD, and an even smaller portion of those ever make it past 100 episodes. The world doesn’t need just another podcast, it needs more podcasts that are actually helpful, interesting, and important. If that’s you, then by all means, podcast away. Let’s chat. You might have heard of the military or the prison industrial complexes, but they aren’t the only of their kind. I used to think an industrial complex was just a fancy way of saying a large or pervasive system, but what it really is is a self-justifying, self-reinforcing system. These systems purposely create problems just so they can solve those problems and then—you guessed it—profit off of the demand they created. Gross. Internet marketers aren’t innocent of this. Y’all know I’m all for strategy, but not every little interaction in your business needs to be finding ways to eek more profit out of your audience. We’re better than that. Let’s chat. I see a lot of people thinking that starting a Substack is somehow the secret to finding new clients and making good money in your online business, but y’all should know by now that it’s never that easy. Yes, there are people making good money with that platform, but they typically already have an audience they’ve built some other way—not to mention the fact that they don’t own their shit, Substack does! Do I really even need to answer the question this title is asking? There’s this idea out there that a good subject line is the difference between getting your email opened and getting your email deleted, but is that true? I could have titled this episode something like, “How to write better email subject lines” but that would be making the assumption that subject lines are all that important, and I just don’t think they are. When someone opens an email, it’s because they care about the person or business sending the email—they care about YOU. And while there are some tactics you can use to increase your open rates, the most important by far is building trust with your audience. Let’s chat. Sure, political and economic uncertainty might have people clutching their wallets a little tighter, but there will always be a market for people looking to buy solutions. Outsourcing has it’s place in business and life, but outsourcing everything can be a slippery slope. We’ve got big changes to make in this world, but to actually make change does not include getting our mobs together and pitchforks out for anyone who dares to be imperfect. Everyone is on their own timeline when it comes to opening their eyes to the shit going on around us. Hating on or judging someone for not being as aware and educated as you are, or shaming someone for making “too small” of an impact gets us nowhere. If change is what you really want, try choosing curiosity before criticism. If we want change, we have to start giving more grace. Let’s chat. I don’t know how you’re feeling about the state of things right now, but if you’re thinking, “Fuuuuck, this shit is so annoying and inconvenient, I just want to live my life!” … Me too. We’ve been so heavily trained to outsource almost every little thing in our lives, and now we’re being asked to think about it, defend it, and understand it in a way we never did before and it’s exhausting. Convenience has its consequences, and we’re facing them now. But just because something is exhausting or uncomfortable or inconvenient, doesn’t mean we should run away from it. We’ve got to lean in to the discomfort and inconvenience, get curious about it, and then we can start making change—every little step matters. Let’s chat. One thing I love about having my own business is the opportunities I get to connect with some really intelligent, incredibly thoughtful, and all around bad-ass people. In the first (and possibly only!) long episode this year, I’m sharing the light and wisdom of Dr. Jennifer Hutton—aka, Dr. Jpop. What you may or may not realize, however, is the fact that Jpop is in every single episode of this podcast. I wanted to talk to her because if there’s someone who knows how to keep moving forward and making a difference when the world looks like… well, you know… it’s Jennifer. We have to let our values be at the root of everything we do and take plenty of pauses because you can’t be a light in this world if you can’t find light for yourself. There’s no checklist we can cross off in order to be a “good person,” but we can take a moment to reflect, look to ourselves and our communities, and figure out how to meet this moment as it comes. Let’s chat. Welcome to Maestro on the Mic, a podcast that helps online business owners find their passion, generate more profit, and build a life that they love. This shit just keeps getting crazier every day, and I don’t need to be any more specific, and you’ll already know what I’m talking about. Sometimes I get asked whether or not you should be sharing about politics on social media, and I understand why some people might be hesitant to do so. While there’s nothing you absolutely have to do in life, there are some things I think you should be doing, and this is one of them. Like it or not, all of our lives are political, and at the core of so many of the issues we’re facing is forced silence. Having an audience (of any size!) is a privilege and it is powerful. I think we should be using our privilege, our power, and our platforms to help. Let’s chat. Welcome to Maestro on the Mic, a podcast that helps online business owners find their passion, generate more profit, and build a life that they love. I'm your host, Dr. Shanté Cofield, aka The Movement Maestro, and I’m stoked to have you here. I hope this podcast inspires you to make moves and do the thing. Action is the answer. In This Episode You'll Hear: Defense through offense Not an obligation, an opportunity Nothing beats just saying the thing Why people don’t share Use your power to help people Your existence is political Whose comfort are you prioritizing? January lasted approximately eleventy-billion years, and it got me thinking. All of this (imagine me gesturing wildly to our lives and the state of the world right now) is a marathon, not a sprint. Life isn’t magically going to get better for us, so if we want to keep going—and we need to!—then it’s more important than ever to pause, to page ourselves, to view the world with curiosity, and to have compassion for ourselves and others. “I told you so,” feels good, but it’s not going to make shit better. That’s up to us. Let’s chat. Welcome to Maestro on the Mic, a podcast that helps online business owners find their passion, generate more profit, and build a life that they love. In This Episode You'll Hear: It’s a marathon, not a sprint We have to pace our consumption There’s a time to fight, and there’s a time for compassion We need more nuance Get off the internet and into your community What does “I told you so” get us? For so many, it would be a dream come true to just be paid to create something that we love. We’ve got to make money to live in this world, so if we want to make money from creating, then we have to professionalize what we do—and not in the boring, traditional, stick-up-your-ass way, but in owning everything you do so that if and when things go sideways, you’re protected. Social media has connected us to more people and more information than we’ve ever had, which means that every day, there’s some new tragedy that we all find out about and it tears people apart. It’s not a good idea to spread yourself so thin with worry that you can’t live your own life. So who—of all the millions suffering in the world—should you care about? Let’s chat. There’s this pervasive idea that as you get older, you’ll have no more fucks left to give, but I’ve never had many to begin with. You can give all the fucks in the world if you want, but as for me—I’ll keep on not caring. Let’s chat.
