#10 - Talks With a Mentor: Teaching in a Township in South Africa During Apartheid, Empowering the Youth of Today, the Myth of Sisyphus, and Building a Meaningful Life With Lisa Otsuka
Manage episode 376525899 series 3510033
Lisa Otsuka is my AP literature teacher from high school and she is one of the most dedicated teachers I’ve ever had the privilege of being taught by. Here, we talk about her time teaching in a township in South Africa during apartheid and about the ensuing passion to help underserved communities. Likewise we talk about the power of building a strong community and of creating an environment that lets the youth grow up with the strength and ability to think and question freely. I absolutely love her take on teaching and life in general. It gets me excited to see what the students who are influenced by her do later in life. Enjoy!
