On today’s show, I discuss how our past and our experiences not only color our lives, but also color the way we see and interpret things that happened to us and happened to others around us.
When it comes to giving helpful advice to someone in need, we must have some sort of understanding, knowledge, and experience to provide the correct advice. In today's show, I offer a simple example of a situation that can take place to anyone at any time.
The reason why I offer this example about the grocery store, and the woman and the cart is to show how is a simple situation that you tell a friend, coworker, parent, or spouse can be observed, and discussed very differently. This particular example that I provide is extremely simple in nature. However, many of us are not asking advice from our friends and family about anything simple. The interesting part is that even a simple situation can be looked at differently by various people. When it comes to deep situations, like marital issues, possible divorce, parental alienation, and the list goes on, many people have a different take on it and offer advice that may or may not be the right advice to take.
When it comes to the big issues in our lives, we want to be sure that if we are taking advice, we are taking the right advice for us to better our situation.
We get advice from family and friends. Sometimes we ask for advice and other times it is just given to us. Throughout today's show, I’m giving you the information that you need to be able to understand both mentally and emotionally if this advice is helpful or harmful. Sometimes the advice is not advice at all. Sometimes instead of somebody giving you advice, they’re actually judging you.
We need to know where the advice is coming from and if it is advice we should be taking. It is important to keep in mind that the advice we receive is directly impacted by the person’s life experiences or lack thereof. We must decide if the advice we are being given is advice that is going to help us or make us feel worse.
