Child and Family Counselling, Couple Therapy, Individual Counselling
I grew up thinking people didn’t want me around and that I was fundamentally flawed. I developed walls to protect myself by keeping people at bay. People can’t reject you if you don’t let them get close. This left me alone, exhausted, anxious, depressed and afraid. I knew I had to do something, and in taking a leap of faith to heal myself, I started my journey to become a counsellor. Having broken down my walls and healed my wounds, I want to help other people to do the same. To find their way out of their dark and lonely places and into a more friendly world.
Rebecca wants her clients to know they are not alone in their struggles. Rebecca Helps grew up thinking she was fundamentally flawed and believed people didn't like or want her around. This left her alone, exhausted, anxious, depressed and afraid. Rebecca's anxieties and fears impacted both her personal and professional life.
She knew she needed to do something to get her life back on track. Rebecca took action, signing up for a personal growth course, which was also the start of a 3-year counsellor training program.
Up until the start of her training program, her life was about logic, spreadsheets and data and had little to no human connection. She was stuck until she took a risk and let herself be vulnerable.
This is what makes her a good counsellor; she has gone through the journey herself—anger, trauma, anxiety, depression, and feeling out of place with the people around her
Now, she uses both past practical skills and counselling skills to help her clients.
She is adaptable and flexible, and her clients know that she will work with them to create a space that is safe and meets their needs.
When she is not counselling, you will find her walking her dog George (a standard poodle), canoeing, hanging out at home, camping in the beautiful BC mountains, or working on her newest hobby, kayaking.
