A trailblazer at heart — I’ve journeyed from the wilds of canada to New York City where I started the global movement of ‘Men’s Naked Yoga’ — to the sacred Himalayas where my leg was crushed by a boulder in a freak accident while trekking — to the untamed jungles of Costa Rica where I built a thriving yoga retreat center — to today, where I am on a mission to help as many people as possible live a pain-free life by teaching my revolutionary approach to yoga called Applied Yoga Anatomy + Muscle Activation™ (AYAMA). I'm excited to collaborate with other creatives on their podcast to share my transformation journey of manifesting my life purpose and living my best life!
For decades, I seriously abused my body in the name of fitness and yoga.
I tried to ignore this hard truth for years, instead opting to believe that the more I bent and contorted into pretzel-like shapes, the higher I climbed the ladder of enlightenment. After all, every yogi I revered could invert themselves and twist into mind-boggling poses. Shouldn’t I do the same? Wouldn’t my yoga students expect me to be a model of flexibility? It would take me decades to realize stretching wasn’t helping me calm my mind or become more aware of my true nature. In fact, it was causing me debilitating injuries and soul-crushing pain.
Of course, chronic pain was never my intention. I came to yoga because I realized one of the secrets to living a lasting, meaningful, and beautiful life was to maintain one’s mobility. I was 18 when I began noticing elderly adults who retained a youthful vigor to their step; they moved with ease and found deep joy in their daily routines and habits. Yet other adults were tight and rigid as they struggled with simple tasks. My beloved grandfather fit into this second group. To this day, I can feel the tightness of his back when we embraced; I can see how he moved his entire torso to glance left or right.
