Have you ever stopped to consider your innate need for safety? Those of us who tend to constantly battle fear in our lives can hopefully identify with this question. But the truth is that we were all born with an innate need for safety and security. Whether it's that innate need or an exacerbated need for safety due to some woundedness, trauma or simply extenuating life circumstances, feeling safe is a critical element of creating an environment that fosters authentic connection and community. Unfortunately, so many of us avoid authentic connection and community because it just feels too risky.
