You Don't Have to Hit the Gym to Stay Fit

"I can not get motivated to get to the gym"...tell us Jennifer Prell, how does someone combat that feeling or thought? Jennifer, President and founder of Elderwerks and encouraged everyone with all the benefits and different types of ways to move your body. She stressed that our muscles are like rubber bands and if you don't use them you will lose them. She was up to almost an hour on the rowing machine only to move to a new place, not get back into the routine, and now she's back to 10 minutes at a time. But she will keep working on it and build those muscles.

The good news is you can always improve your muscular abilities. Start with baby steps and work your way to longer amounts of time or more repetitions. At Elderwerks, they offer virtual classes for older adults to take advantage of to get moving. There are simple things you can do at home too that Jennifer mentioned in the event you don't go out much or are home-bound or bedridden. See, you don't have to hit the gym to stay fit!

If all else fails, put on your favorite song and dance!
