Countries around the world are racing to develop a vaccine to end the COVID-19 global pandemic. In the United States, Operation Warp Speed – led by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Defense -- involves almost $11 billion funding to seven different companies to develop vaccines. Three of these companies – Monderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer – are in late stage trials. Today on Charting Pediatrics we are joined by Sean O'Leary, MD to talk about these accelerated efforts and what role a vaccine would play in pediatrics.
Today we are joined by returning guest Dr. Sean O'Leary, an Infectious Disease physician at Children's Colorado and Director of the Colorado Pediatric Practice-Based Research Network. Sean is also a spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics – if you have seen any major media coverage on the return to school, you have probably seen Sean quoted.
