Where have you taken a wrong turn in your entrepreneurial journey?

We’ve all taken a wrong turn (or half a dozen of them). These don’t have to be catastrophic wrong turns. Many of these are just minor detours or a shortcut that didn’t quite work out the way we thought it would.

As we work on building our businesses, we are always discovering new things that we would have done very differently if we could go back and live it all over again!

At the time of these wrong turns, we often view them as failures.

I don’t want to minimize or dismiss that feeling, because we often do feel quite bad about these wrong turns at the time.

But rather than failures, they’re actually very useful opportunities to learn and grow.

The only real failure is giving up on your business because of a mistake.

I’ve definitely learned from the choices I made in my first business, from focusing on the wrong aspects of my business early on to paying too little attention to my numbers to asking others for feedback on my pricing.

By applying those lessons in my current business, I’ve been able to grow and scale more quickly.

I’m happy to share these lessons in the hope that they’ll help my listeners build prosperous businesses that are aligned with their values!

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • The 10 biggest missteps I made in my last business and the lessons I learned
  • How to work smarter, not harder, by identifying your periods of highest productivity
  • Why core values aren’t just for big corporations — and why they’re actually essential for small businesses

Highlights:‌ ‌

  • 01:36 Introduction
  • 02:18 Rethinking ‘failure’
  • 03:22 Pretty Woman
  • 04:21 Focusing on the wrong things
  • 06:55 Money mindset & feminine energy
  • 09:44 How I deal with my numbers
  • 11:09 Importance of core values
  • 14:09 Case study: core values
  • 17:22 Map out your highest energy levels

  • 22:47 Peers, not competition
  • 26:18 Vulnerability
  • 28:26 Boundaries
