Christine's Journey
Christine, an Instagram mom-influencer, expanded her following and worked on social media campaigns alongside her 9-5 job as an executive assistant. Despite the financial success, she felt constrained in spending time with her kids and enjoying her off-time. Photography became her unexpected passion, allowing her to connect with her children. When her daughter grew tired of posing for campaigns, Christine opened her business to the public, aiming to replace her corporate income in six months by collaborating with local creators and small businesses.
Why do it?
It's not just about security and money. It's about passion, freedom, and the drive to constantly improve. Milestones are motivating, but the journey is ongoing. Instead of dedicating yourself to someone else's organization, bet on yourself.
Investment
Investment in entrepreneurship means working beyond the 9-5, with ideas constantly on your mind. Instead of relying on external investors, your own family becomes the likely source of funding. Setting boundaries is crucial, even though it's tough to detach from your business. During off-days or slow seasons, seeking support and feedback from your spouse, partner, or community is vital. Surrounding yourself with people who cheer you on is essential when you're not able to do it for yourself.
Balancing Demands
Christine initially struggled with work-life balance, taking on excessive clients, doing 10 shoots per week, and working nights and weekends. She devoted all her free time to building her business, leading to burnout. However, she has become more aware and now sets boundaries. She designates specific days for shoots, limits the number of shoots per month, and prioritizes her family and friendships, scheduling social time as if it were work. While it's important not to disappoint clients, it's crucial to create a schedule that works best for oneself.
