The MirYam Institute proudly launches the second episode of a new biweekly podcast on Israeli defense and diplomatic affairs – the Israel Defense and Diplomacy Forum (IDDF) – with two of the foremost experts in this area, Prof. Chuck Freilich, former Israeli deputy national security advisor, and Danny Ayalon, former Deputy Foreign Minister and ambassador to Washington.
Chuck comes from the center-left and Danny from the center-right.
In this podcast, they discuss the strategic ramifications of the Six-Day War, 55 years later. Both agree that the Six-Day War was an historic turning point in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict, that ensured Israel’s existence, marked the beginning of Arab acceptance of Israel and was an important stage in the development of the “special relationship” with the US. Things heat up as they discuss the the settler movement and whether the war may have set the stage for Israel’s demise as a predominantly Jewish and democratic state.
