EPISODE SUMMARY: If you've been a long time listener of The Business Equation, you know how powerful positive mindset can be. With it, you have real, genuine opportunity to accomplish big things. Without it, you don't. That may seem like a dumbed-down explanation, but it's the truth.
If you go after anything with the mindset that you can't win and can't make it happen, then negative results are what you'll achieve. But go after those same goals with a positive mindset that allows you to visualize your outcome and manifest the best results coming to you, and you put yourself in a much better position to succeed.
Throughout my entire entrepreneurial journey, no book has impacted me more than Napoleon Hill's 'Think and Grow Rich.' This classic was published in 1937(!!) and the lessons found within still hold true today. But don't just take my word for it. Listen to some past episodes of The Business Equation and you'll hear Think and Grow Rich referenced multiple times by other successful entrepreneurs and professionals who've joined me to share their plight.
As this episode of The Business Equation goes live, I've read Think and Grow Rich 22 times. That may seem like a lot, but each time I dig into the text, I learn something new. And, 22 times is nothing compared to my guest on today's show!
In Episode 84 of The Business Equation Podcast, I'm joined by the one and only Jim Shorkey. Jim is the former owner of the Jim Shorkey Auto Group in Pittsburgh, PA, a company he inherited from his father in the early 90s, grew successfully thanks to the lessons he learned from Think and Grow Rich, and passed on to his children who have grown the company even bigger. To date, Jim has read Think and Grow Rich 144 times!
Today, Jim is retired and leads a mentoring group known as Results From Thinking, an outlet that allows him to share stories of positive mindset with professionals young and old.
In our conversation today, Jim and I will break down various lessons found within the front and back covers of Think and Grow Rich. From imagination to definiteness of purpose to autosuggestion to faith to passion, our discussion was one that truly brings Napoleon Hill's words to life. Did we agree on everything? Of course not! And that's OK. It made for great radio!
