In this episode, Kris Sykes and Brian Goldsack talk to David Cross, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for Oracle. David talks about his illustrious career, starting from serving in the US Navy and his transition to the IT sector, where he worked for industry giants such as Microsoft and Google. He also got involved in the venture capital space where he invested in several tech startups.
David’s drive to constantly improve himself is invigorating. His work experience shows his innate desire to learn as much as he can about the things that interest him. And yet, his end goal for himself is relatively simple: his idea of power is that of a life that affords him the choice to do what he loves.

If you don't know what your values and principles are, then you have no starting point. You have no dry land to stand upon.”

Kris: “Don't let anything stand in your way. If that's what you want to do, you have to do the work where you are first, and you have to prove to people that you're willing to do it.”
David: “Everything's connected to the internet. That's why we say the internet of things. And I think that's one of the challenges that we're all facing in society is that everything is now connected. You know, everything is using a chip. Everything has software, and that means everything needs to be protected.”
David: "My power is that I have the best work-life choice, right. Is that I am able to make the choices that I want into what I do in my career when I do in my life. And I'm happy about it."
