In this episode of the Success Fundamentals Podcast, Kris and Brian talk to Roman Prokopchuk. Roman is the host of the Roman Prokopchuk's Digital Savage Experience and the Principal Owner, CMO, Head of Digital Marketing Services & Solutions of Nova Zora Digital.

As a first generation immigrant from Ukraine, Roman is no stranger to chaos and struggling for survival. Roman’s family left Ukraine in March of 1990 and moved to New Jersey, where his family of six squeezed into a two bedroom apartment. He also found himself jobless after graduating from Rutgers University during the 2008 recession.

At present, Roman has found success with his company and podcast. His approach to success is steady, if not contemplative. He talks about the mental fortitude needed to thrive in chaos, and always putting in the work. He also talks about his faith and why his spirituality is one of the building blocks of his success in business and life in general.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Leaving the Soviet Union and studying criminal justice
  • A chance encounter with search engine optimization
  • Experience makes you tougher
  • Thrive in constant chaos by stepping back
  • Get out of your own head and focus on your goals
  • There is a link between spirituality and success
  • Complacency is the death of innovation
  • You always have to act and put in the work
  • True success should be repeatable
  • The love of money, not money itself, is evil
  • Unchecked power corrupts

QUOTES

Kris: "My dad used to always say, pressure does two things: either it bursts pipes or makes diamonds. So are you a rusted pipe or are you a lump of coal?"

Roman: "Whatever you're going through, take a step back and look at it from different perspectives that it may not be the way that you actually think it is."

Roman: "Majority of things in life are mental and getting out of your own head. So kind of finding just a space where it's just you and whatever you're going through and being in a calm state is key. Because we talk about chaos and sometimes that chaos is in your mind and regardless of what you do you lose focus of your goal, you start getting distracted, discouraged, so on and so forth."

Roman: "At the end of the day, when it's a selfish pursuit versus a selfless pursuit. When it's a selfish pursuit and I would get a client or get compensated a crazy amount of money and get a check, that feeling only lasted for so long. But when it's selfless and you add value to other people around you and you can see that bearing fruit in other people's lives, I know that gets carried over. I live on through those actions.
