This week we talk to Dr. Malene Lindholm & Dr. Jeff Christle who are currently conducting research at Stanford’s Stanford Sports Cardiology, and the Stanford Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing Laboratory. We talk about a wide range of topics based on their incredible research including the impact of genetics in athletic performance and training, the accuracy and best use for wearable technology, the physiological and cardiovascular impact of living an active lifestyle, and what research says about how family history can be used to optimize training. In addition, we talk about the Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease’s 5k race on April 30th and we encourage all of our listeners to sign up!

Some highlights from our conversation:

🧬How genetics impacts training adaptation

⌚️The benefits and limitations of wearable tech to measure fitness and training

🔬Training your genes

🤝How your community shapes your approach to fitness

🫀What we know about the science of cumulative training

🥇How their work shapes their own training
