On September 10, 1968, two female officers at the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department made history when they became the first women in the United States to be given a patrol assignment in the same fashion as their male colleagues. Years later, Sergeant Betty Blankenship's daughter, Robin Tryon would become a police officer with the same department where her mother made history.
