Manage episode 303025627 series 2967498
Pilates Alliance Podcast Season 4, Episode 02: Tensegrity Training
We continue our series focusing on professional Pilates Training Providers accredited with the Pilates Alliance of Australia (PAA) by speaking with Tracey Nicholson from Tensegrity Training. Tracey comes from a dance and education background and is a regular presenter on movement related topics. She founded Tensegrity Training in 2011 after seeing the need for more government accredited training in the fields of Pilates, Somatics and Movement Therapy.
Tracey’s background in education, interest in rehabilitation and experience running a Pilates studio and employing staff gave her the skillset to create nationally accredited programs that have equipped over a thousand students to date. Key to Tensegrity Training’s success is passion and integrity, being adaptable and being open to learning.
Tracey explains the demanding process required for courses to be accredited under the Registered Training Organisation banner and the benefits, for an aspiring Pilates instructor, of doing an accredited course that is also recognised by the PAA.
Bruce and Tracey talk about the necessity of professional associations and the importance of setting minimum standards for the Pilates industry so that instructors are equipped to deal with a diversity of clients.
Tensegrity Training caters for different student goals and needs by offering a variety of pathways. It offers a full Integrated Diploma; an Advanced Diploma; a Certificate IV in Mat work; and standalone specialised courses. Many of its units of competency are available as short courses.
Tracey shares common questions asked by prospective students, including ones about recognition of prior learning and then goes into more detail about the benefits of studying with Tensegrity Training. She concludes with some advice for prospective students, and some questions they might want to ask when deciding on what course to enrol in.
