EPISODE SUMMARY
This podcast is dedicated to celebrating the journey of black women to embrace their natural hair, with our host, Lisa. E, aka Natural Born Sister, who inspires black women to groom and confidently flaunt their natural hair.
In today's episode, Lisa talks with Keke Lashell, who describes her struggle with her natural hair through several emotionally trying life experiences, but in the end, her resolve to stay natural keeps her anchored, with support from her partner and family.
SHOW NOTES
Currently on a bald haircut, Keke's hair journey has been full of ups and downs, having cut her hair for the third time following very emotionally draining situations. Despite this, Keke loves her hair and plans to encourage her daughter to wear her natural hair. This support extends to her social circle as she was motivated to throw a party to support natural hair, upon seeing the rave for other styles.
When starting out, Keke had a lot of uncertainty, especially while trying to understand her hair and figure out what products to use. Dealing with the frustration, she has tried several styles which have made her unsure and hesitant to flaunt the look. However, ironically, these experiences have brought her to a place where she is more aware and appreciative of the beauty in her natural hair, as she prepares to take that next step.
