EPISODE SUMMARY
This podcast is dedicated to celebrating the journey of black women to embrace their natural hair, with our host, Lisa. E, aka Natural Born Sister, who inspires black women to confidently flaunt their natural hair.
In this episode, Lisa sits with Taylor Briana as she talks about the challenges, she faced in keeping her natural hair, from the lack of support that kept her reverting back and forth, to her struggle with alopecia, yet maintaining a unique look with her amazing hairstyle.
SHOW NOTES
Taylor has been wearing her natural hair for about 23 years now, wearing a perm since she was 5 years old. Because of her unique look, she has had no shortage of attention, although she understands that in many cases the negative responses simply stem from jealousy and a baseless sense of superiority. Taylor also offers her homemade hair care products for sale on her Facebook page, while she generally shows concern for hair care among black women.
With the general cause of alopecia remaining mostly nonspecific, Taylor was able to identify the role of stress as a factor responsible for hers. Her treatment with scalp injections was effective but ultimately full recovery came when she addressed the stress. Key points from this episode include;
