Are low-SES (social-economic status) minority students being tested and placed at a higher degree into special education classes in public schools than their higher-income, predominantly white peers? Is there really an over-representation of students of color in special education? Are there racial and ethnic disparities caused by over-identification? There is a percentage of minority students tracked into special education programs under mild/mod.
My name is IJ Popoola and I'm the host of Mrs. IJ's Kids Inclusive Podcast, a show focusing on the challenges of inclusive education for students with disabilities, as well as providing resources for parents, caregivers, educators, and all stakeholders in the African diaspora and in African Nations.
