Meet Dr. Charlotte Baker, a Professor of French and Critical Disability Studies in the Department of Languages and Cultures at Lancaster University in the UK. She is particularly interested in albinism and has published widely on understandings and representations of albinism in sub-Saharan Africa. She was awarded a Knowledge Exchange Fellowship and Wellcome Trust funding for the Albinism in Africa project, which she set up in 2014. She currently leads the ‘Alternative Explanations: Disability and Inclusion Africa’ project, in collaboration with Dr. Elvis Imafidon (SOAS, University of London), Professor Jacobus Moolman (University of the Western Cape, South Africa), and Dr. Emelda Ngufor Samba (Université de Yaoundé 1). The project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Global Challenges Research Fund.
