We have all sat through them. Those monotonous, ineffective, inefficient, soul-sucking meetings. They are generally led by someone who for the most part, spends the entire time talking just to hear their own voice while the team sits in a stupor staring blankly at each other. Afterward, the company wonders why nothing impactful came of all those meetings. Not to mention the horrendous cost of lost man-hours with nothing to show for it. The truth of the matter is that running an effective team meeting is not a skill that simply comes with the title. It is in fact a leadership skill that takes time and effort to acquire.
