One of the greatest lessons we can learn from the story of Elijah in 1 Kings is to be alert to manipulation and don't allow yourself to be distracted by chasing after fleshly desires that lead only to death.

In my own heart healing journey, I have recognized that my heart is extremely valuable and it is my responsibility alone to guard it with wisdom and not emotion. My heart is the “wellspring of my entire life.” If I don’t take the time to heal what has been broken, my heart will be corrupted and that will influence and spill out into every avenue of my life. I want to be known as a peace filled, loving and kind person. It is my desire to be a life giver to every person I meet, and I cannot do that if what is pouring out of me is poison that overflowed from the corruption I have harbored in my heart. I am daily trying to make myself conscious that this world is vile and corrupt, and my heart is constantly under attack by all I choose to think about and allow into my world. I hope my story has influenced you to go on your own heart healing journey. It is a trip only you can take for yourself. I pray you stay sober of mind and filled with the love and grace that comes from an intimate and life giving relationship with our Father through His loving son Jesus Christ. The scriptures I reference in this Podcast are: Jeremiah 17:9 Proverbs 4: 20-27 Matthew 12:34-37 Philippians 4:4-9 In this last scripture Paul is giving us the guidebook to a healthy heart. Every time your brain starts swirling with fear and entitled anger I hope you remind yourself these things. 1. What is true in your life right now? 2. What are the things in your life right now that are noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable? 3. What are the things in your life today that are excellent and worth my praise? The Scriptures I speak on are: Romans 3:10 Romans 3:23 Romans 5:6-8 Romans 5:9-11 Romans 6:23 Romans 5:1 Romans 8:1 Galatians 5:13-26 Romans 10:9-10 I hope you understand that no one deserves the gift of salvation more than you or I do. It is a free gift that has already been paid through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. All you have to do is declare out loud that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God did raise him from the dead and you will be saved. Your life may not change right away, but the relationship you develop with the Lord will heal your heart and that will help your life change. If you have already accepted Jesus as your Savior but you have lost your faith, it’s important that you turn from your wicked, flesh desires back to the only one who can grant you the love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control you are searching for. These things will not be found by seeking for them through flesh gratification. Your flesh is literally only skin deep. Why are you passing up the lasting, deep things of God for these temporary, shallow experiences that will only lead to death? Why are you choosing flesh desires that don't last over the blessings of the Spirit of God, which last a lifetime and then for eternity? Support the show…

My recent perspective would have taken me down a dark path until I reached out my hand to Jesus and was pulled out of the harsh reality I had found myself living to a place of truth that I had many many blessings surrounding me. We see this example in several Biblical Characters including King David and the prophet Elijah. The scriptures I use and reference in this lesson are: 1 Samuel 24 1 Kings 19 Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” My prayer is that you raise your hand out to Jesus to help you rise above your perspective today. This is a nice time for a Commercial Break to let you know what is going to be happening in my ministry in the coming months. I am very excited to announce my website Lessons of a Former Pastor’s Wife will be up and running by the end of September. This is where I will be sharing my Podcasts and Youtube Channel as well as selling my books. My first book Seed of Seerling, which is still available on Amazon, (https://www.amazon.com/Seed-Seerling-Amy-K-Kennedy/dp/1933204656) was published all the way back in 2007. I’ve had a lot of things transpire in my life over the years and chose to shelve the second book King of Harkan. I am super excited to announce King of Harkan should be available for purchase through Amazon and my website by the end of the year. I am also currently working on a booklet with Whole Food recipes, scriptures, meditations, and fasting ideas to help you re-set your spiritual, mental, and physical self in 30 days. With all my health problems, it is next to impossible for me to do a full fast for more than one day. About 10 years ago, I started doing 30 day re-sets every March. This is a time where I eat only whole foods for 30 days and pray and fast from things like television. I’ve amassed a lot of great recipes over the years and can’t wait to share them with you. I hope to have this booklet ready for purchase by early 2024. Keep an ear out for new announcements as things move forward. Welcome back to Lessons of a Former Pastor's Wife. In this Podcast I explore the strength of the Ocean and the boulders on the shoreline. I know none of us want to be like the boulder who is being constantly beaten by something so strong and endless as the ocean, but that is unfortunately exactly what we are. So many people succumb to the strength of the beating ocean and let go of their grasp and they get flung to and fro until they drown in the rip currents of life. These people have no hold on anything so the waves carry them out to the deep ocean and then violently throw them back against the shore just to grab hold of them again and repeat the process over and over until there is nothing but a nub left that eventually just becomes an indistinguishable piece of sand on the shoreline. Abandonment and neglect are often far worse than outright abuse. While abuse may harm our body, abandonment sinks deep within our soul and can change who we are meant to be. If you are dealing with issues of abandonment or neglect from childhood trauma or things that have happened in your adult life, please remember 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." Common signs for you to look for in yourself if you feel you may have abandonment issues are: * Being a people pleaser * Being jealous of or over your partner * Not trusting your partner's intentions * Constantly feeling insecure in your relationships * Difficulty with intimacy * Needing to control or be controlled by a partner I also explored-in this Podcast-the story in the book of Nehemiah when he lead the Jewish people to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and the obstacles they faced in the midst of God's great blessing in allowing them to rebuild long abandoned walls in 52 days. This is the second part of my conversation with my special guest Theresa Deane. My special guest Theresa Deane and her husband Scott have been in ministry for 35 years. During their years in ministry, they served several times in the Appalachian region of Kentucky and the Crow Creek Reservation in South Dakota; helping build volunteer centers in both areas. They worked on homes for local residents, distributed food, toys and clothing and directed children's ministries. Scott and Theresa raised and homeschooled three children. Their son, Josh, is a director and film editor in NYC. Their youngest daughter, Hannah, is currently involved in overseas mission work. Scott and Theresa's daughter, Rachel, passed away in 2019 due to complications from juvenile diabetes.
