On May 30, 2020, during the George Floyd protests in Flint, Swanson received national attention when he removed his riot gear and marched with the protesters.
However, Chris is much much more than a moment in time, he is embodiment of a life that is dedicated to service.
Chris is a three-time author, including a recent children's book that highlights memories from his own childhood. In addition, Swanson has authored Tinman to Ironman and Blood, Guts, and Things That Drive You Nuts.
He has served in a variety of positions, including corrections, patrol, narcotics, criminal investigation, death investigation, and command operations. Some of his most notable assignments have been part of the executive protection for Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama and Vice Presidents Gore, Chaney and Biden.

Chris commands the police honor guard, which has performed over 100 ceremonies across the state. He augments his police experience as a licensed paramedic and certified Medical Examiner Investigator. This training has led him to witness to some of the most heinous crimes and acts of violence one can imagine, including homicides, suicides, felonies, fatalities and drug overdoses. He shares these experiences to audiences across the country to make a positive impact their lives using lessons from the living and the dead.

What marching with the protesters did. "It created a battle cry for the Flint residents and the protesters that we can show other communities that we can protest without violence," Swanson said. To law enforcement officers around the country, it's showed "it's OK to be vulnerable and it's OK to talk and it's OK to have these conversations. .... I'm hoping people lay down their swords ... and the police are the ones that start the conversations ... and they say, 'We're done fighting, what do we need to do?' Our nation needs healing more than ever before."
