Ep 42: An Encore from the 2019 Leaders Sport Performance Summit in Las Vegas
Manage episode 243581342 series 1029490
What was your key takeaway from the Leaders Performance Institute's first visit to the desert?
With best practice insights from fields as diverse as World Series Poker, haute cuisine and the US Air Force. It is safe to say there was something on the menu for everyone at the UFC's Las Vegas Performance Institute and we could not have picked a more fitting venue.
The curtain came down and members of the Leaders Performance Institute repaired to the VENUE for a well-earned drink and the opportunity to compare notes. Our own notes can be found here.
At the same time, the LPI's very own Luke Whitworth and Matthew Stone, with Coronas in hand, caught up with several attendees to gauge their reaction to what they had just seen and heard.
And you will hear from:
- Ian Yates, Head of the National Performance Pathway at the Lawn Tennis Association, on why labels such as 'objective' and 'subjective' in high performance do not tell half the story [6:30];
- Peter Vint, our compere for the day, who contemplates why sport is too often ill-equipped mentally, emotionally and psychologically to help its athletes [16:30];
- Bryan Burnstein & Paul McGinlay, both of Cirque du Soleil, who feel organisations can do more to understand the motivations and journeys of athletes and high performers [26:50].
