It's March meaning that there are many themes happening - Nutrition Month which we've covered before, but it's also Social Work month, Addictions month, Neurodiversity month and I want to talk about all of them, as well as throw in some props for Sleep. Christie Mellan, Addictions Counsellor and Social Worker from CAF Health Services joins me to talk about all these interconnected themes and helps make sense of things that can often keep people from recognizing their need for or feeling like it's okay to reach out for, help.
If you or someone you know is on the fence about tackling issues around mental health or addiction or both, this is a conversation you will want to hear.
Here are the ways that people can access help:
Check out CFMAP if you would like immediate contact with someone who can set you up with help 1-800-268-7708. CFMAP can be accessed by CAF members and their immediate family members (ie. spouse, partner and dependant children of the member)
The MIR/CDU mental health services are for CAF members and is open from 0730 to 1200 and 1300 to 1600 M-F. Call 528-5332 (for those with CSN access) Walk-in Mental Health is available.
If you are interested in reading more about sleep, "Why We Sleep" by Matthew Walker is an amazing read. Available in regular, Kindle and Audiobook.
