Will an active drunk always find a drink, no matter what impediments are placed in the way? Will a using addict find a way to a drug when the only plausible way appears to be impossible? Like magicians, active addicts and alcoholics can find alcohol and drugs even when there’s apparently nothing there! This week we’re talking about how hikes in the price of booze, harsher sentencing for those under the influence and other such punitive methods are never going to alter, reduce, let alone eliminate the problem; well, not unless we address the problem itself first and focus on recovery. We also look at pain relief and differing attitudes to medication in recovery.
