It's important to be strategic when looking for a new role.
1. You have to figure out what you want to do and find those job descriptions. Don’t waste your time looking at job descriptions of jobs that you really have no interest in. Also be realistic. If you’re an entry level worker now, it probably doesn’t make sense to take the time reading through VP roles.
2. Research the company (Glassdoor and LinkedIn)
3. Prepare your resume. Be sure to tailor these specifically to the positions that you plan to apply for.
4. Complete your cover letter and apply. Try not to provide salary history information, even if it's requested.
5. Network within the company.
