Today we will be looking at nouns ‘Sidewalk’ and ‘Motion’

The word sidewalk is spelled as S-I-D-E-W-A-L-K. A sidewalk is a paved walk for pedestrians at the side of the street.

A sentence with the word sidewalk is “The sidewalk is not meant for people to ride their bikes on it.” Another example is, “There are many streets in town that do not have a sidewalk on the side.” Sidewalk is a noun.

The next word is motion, it is spelled as M-O-T-I-O-N. This word may sound easy but has many different definitions.

One definition of a motion is an act, process, or instance of changing pace. A sentence with this definition is, “The waves have rhythmic motions.” This is a noun version of motion and can be a synonym for movement.

Another meaning for motion is that motion is an acting or function is state or condition. Like something is in the process of happening. An example is, “The lawyer set the divorce in motion.” The use of this meaning of function is as a noun.

Motion can also mean an instance of moving the body or its part. An example, “He threw the baseball with a motion of his arm.” This can be a synonym to a gesture and is a noun.

Motion can also be a legal term. It could be an application made to the court or a judge to obtain an order, ruling, or direction. For example, “His motion for a trial was denied.” This is a noun.

Last but not least, Motion means an action to signal by movement or gesture. For example, “The pitcher motioned the catcher about the play.” This is a verb form of motion.
