On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (09/11/24), Hank recalls one of the most epic events in American history that took place 23 years ago—the Manhattan massacre of September 11, 2001. And yet in those 23 years, we have largely become complacent to the Islamic terrorism that spawned its devastation. Some have forgotten, and others are blithely unaware of the reality that Islam is the only significant religious system in the history of the human race with a socio-political structure of laws that mandate violence against the infidel. And that this graphic global reality makes Islam a religious ideology espousing terrorism as a permanent policy rather than a temporary expedient. Tragically, the current narrative is that to tell the truth in this regard is tantamount to radicalizing Muslims and exacerbating hostilities that might otherwise lie dormant. We must not only be intellectually equipped to communicate the truth of the gospel via answers, biblical literacy, and countering cults—but also be internally equipped during this anti-Judeo-Christian moment. What that means is that the church must be energized for its mission—by a power that is in it but not of it, as underscored by the Apostle Paul in Colossians 1:29. This is the energy that alone is sufficient to empower a twenty-first-century Pentecost moment.
