In life, we have two choices when we are confronted with challenging situations. We either remain in the current situations or we decide to separate ourselves from the situations and move forward. Some of these situations are simple like having a job we dislike or is unfulfilling. Or living in a town that doesn’t really fill our heart and inspire us. However, others find themselves in more drastic circumstances like marriages that are either emotionally or physically abusive. When individuals find themselves in these situations many remain in those situations because they don’t feel they have a choice, support to move forward, or the resources to rely on when familial support is lacking.

Others however, choose to remove themselves from those situations knowing that for their emotional health and physical safety it is not an option to remain. This step, although a positive one in the long run, is extremely frightening and takes an immense amount of bravery and grit.

Today’s topic will focus on the healing and moving forward after experiencing domestic violence and how we can all have a heart of compassion and empathy when we find ourselves supporting those we love or those who cross our paths who have found themselves dealing with the fall out of domestic violence.

Today, I welcome my friend Kim, as she shares her journey through healing and moving forward after finding herself in such a situation as well as how she has decided to live her life in the service of others who find themselves in situations that are similar to her own history.

What kind of words did you hear as a child? Were they uplifting? Encouraging? Discouraging? Demeaning? How do you feel when you hear someone tell you that you 'CAN'T' do something? The words that fill our brains as children truly do register and formulate the beliefs we hold closely. It is crucial that children hear positive encouraging words because those words are the seeds that start to grow without our hearts. With the right nurturing, those seeds will create an amazing harvest! In this episode, my guest, Chris Tice, talks about his childhood and how that affected his beliefs about what he 'could' do and what others felt he wasn't able to do, and how that affected him. Chris Tice is a leadership coach focusing on leadership communication, training and development, and safety/crisis management and avoidance. One thing in life is certain.....that nothing is absolutely certain! Our lives are filled with so many twists and turns that constantly throw us into situations that we would have never imagined navigating. In this episode, my guest Chris Gordon, shares how a normal day in putting his son in his car seat turned into a long windy journey as he battled with necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating bacteria), and how that event would leave him bearing physical scars. However, these scars, are not what he has decided to focus his future on. Instead, he has made it his mission to live a life focusing on the Attitude of Gratitude. His story is one that reminds us that regardless of the uncertainty we will face, and we all will, that we can walk boldly in seeing, being, and doing the good. Imagine one day you are heading to work, living your life, feeling like you have it together, only to have a major health issue force you into a psych ward by the afternoon! If that wasn't enough, the doctors don't listen to you about your health history, and because of one doctor's decision you are catapulted into living a life completely different than your previous one. This is exactly what happened to my guest, Alice Sydow. In Episode 21, Alice shares about her life as a prominent entrepreneur in the fashion world when it all came crashing down around her and how she lost her 'voice'. However, Alice knew this was not the kind of life she wanted to live so she took back her health and wellness to recreate a life that she knew would be healthier for her body, mind, and spirit. Alice shares how taking back her power, changing her mindset, health, and focus has completely changed the trajectory of her life. In this episode she gives us tips and steps that we can all apply to our lives in order to do the same for the areas of our lives that have gotten out of control or are not serving us anymore. Self worth is something that many of us struggle to fully grasp. Despite our upbringings it is one of the T.H.I.N.G.S. that can be either completely elusive or too heavy to fully carry. In Episode 20 my guest, author, entrepreneur, father of three, devoted husband, business owner, motivational speaker, and recovering addict Jeremy Van Winkle shares his journey of "Overdosing and Dying to Overcoming and Thriving". In this powerful message he shares how he has recreated and redesigned his life after realizing at a pivotal time in his life that he needed to basically "Sell Himself to Himself". He needed to make changes so he could live the life he desired and was worthy of. Jeremy shares about how his low self worth brought him to a tipping point with his young family and when he decided he wanted to live his life with a vastly different trajectory than where it was headed. In the last three years Jeremy has rebuilt relationships but first started with himself. He shares about the power of believing in yourself, forgiveness, and the transformative power that we all have if we are willing to make the decision to walk a different path.
