In Episode 15 of The F.L.O.W. Podcast, we sit down with Dr. Serina Lewis-Everett, a board-certified family medicine physician and founder of Sepia Modern Primary Care. Dr. Serina shares her inspiring journey from Atlanta, Georgia, to becoming a physician, driven by the lack of Black medical professionals she witnessed growing up. A proud Spelman College graduate, Dr. Serina chose family medicine to build meaningful relationships with her patients while delivering culturally competent care. Fun fact…she loves Criminal Minds. If she wasn’t a doctor she’d be an FBI Agent. During the episode, Dr. Serina discusses: Her journey into medicine: Inspired by her family's history with sickle cell disease and the desire to be a role model for others. Balancing leadership and self-care: Offering insights on how busy professionals, especially women, can prioritize their health through simple but impactful habits. The importance of culturally competent care: Dr. Serina's practice is dedicated to providing care that reflects the diverse needs of her patients. Her revolutionary boutique practice: Sepia Modern Primary Care offers a personalized approach, with hour-long appointments, home visits, and direct access to the doctor. It's designed to meet the needs of busy professionals, providing high-quality, personalized healthcare outside of the traditional insurance model. Practical health tips for busy professionals: Strategies like using food diaries, staying hydrated, and incorporating physical activity even in the most hectic schedules.
