This episode we take a moment and talk about Southern Oregon burning down. In a matter of days, 5 towns get heavy damage from an onslaught of local and regional fires. In fact most of the PNW was engulfed in flames. We lost our dispensary, studio, and several friends lost their homes. The damage was extensive and will take years to recover from. We wanted to chat about it so that people could hear first hand. Don’t stress though because we fit in some grow talk as well. It’s been one hell of a year and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better, so sit back, lets get high, talk about fires in our bowls and fires in our forests, and pray the cost of cannabis doesn’t go up. UPDATE: The fires in our area have been contained and the majority of smoke has dispersed. The evacuation levels have dropped and people have been allowed to get back into the areas of damage to try and sift through the burned wreckage. The Marihuana Stamp Tax Act was approved on August 2, and went into effect on October 1, 1937. Moses Baca was arrested October 3; Samuel Caldwell was taken in two days later. Both pleaded guilty. Both were sentenced by federal Judge J. Foster Symes on October 8. Baca got 18 months for possessing a quarter-ounce. Caldwell was caught selling three joints to man named Claude Morgan and was also caught in possession of four pounds of cannabis, which he’d smuggled in from Kansas. He received a heavier sentence of four years. On October 17, 1937, both were received at the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas. ONLY 2 WEEKS LATER… Sam Caldwell is dubbed as “The first pot POW”, and was one of the earliest targets of the 1937 Marihuana Stamp Act, but he was not the first. We catch up with Jason Wilson from Kenevir Research this week and clear the air concerning the newest changes to the regulations on December 2nd. He explains how to work with your trusted lab and streamline a very complicated process. He also shares some great information on pesticides and what to look out for. Come on join us for one of the most informative shows yet! ****DECEMBER 14th CHANGES UPDATE!!!**** Primary things that have changed since podcast recording date of December 12th that affect what was said: 1) Cannabinoid product batch sizes have now changed from 1000 units back up to 32,000 units. (I mentioned that batch sizes were capped at 1000 units, which WAS true between Dec 2 and Dec 15…) 2) Increments that we are required to collect for extracts and concentrates has been redefined once again to be at least 1g increments. (I mentioned that they had removed this requirement and so we had a bit of flexibility on how much sample mass we collect per increment, but that’s not correct anymore.) This is just one example of many that shows what the industry is going through and how it is affecting all parties on an ongoing basis.
