Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” Many undiscerning people are going to gobble up Sarah Young’s book because they are not discerning and cannot decipher between New Age spirituality that is wrapped in Christian terminology, versus biblical theology that is straight from the text of the Bible. If a New Age “Jesus” is coming through the book Jesus Calling , and it is contradicting New Testament theology, the message of the Epistles, and the message of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, then you’ve got a counterfeit Jesus—you’ve got a false Jesus—and the Jesus of Jesus Calling is not Jesus of Nazareth! That’s it—that’s just the bottom line! There is so much material refuting this book and yet people still don’t want to hear the truth. Our ministry (Spiritual Research Network) has lost quite a bit of support simply because we’ve printed literature, we’ve got our web pages up, saying “Look, this is what’s going on!” And people get mad. Well, they get mad, they can have their Jesus Calling , they can have the counterfeit "Jesus" of Jesus Calling and they can get that nice fluffy spiritual buzz—they can laugh at the future, they can get the New Age buzzwords, the New Age philosophy, you know the teachings that “God is in everything” (pantheism) and the plants and the rocks and the trees and the cows and the grass and the dung, you know, that’s, that’s, that’s Hinduism —God is in all things! That’s not biblical Christianity— okay —you gotta make a decision! If you do end up passing the literature on to expose Jesus Calling , be kind to them, be nice to them, our goal here is not to slander Sarah Young, it’s just to say, "Hey look—if Sarah Young’s not telling the truth— she’s deceived! " And if she’s deceived, well there’s been enough literature put out there now, for her to say, “Gosh you know what—I was wrong! Man, I was deceived—I’m sorry!” For her to come full-circle, and repent, and say “You know what? Man, I was deceived by a counterfeit Jesus! Whoaaaa—how incredible is this deception that’s affecting the church in the last days!” Well, that’s what she should do! But is she? No, she’s not! What’s the date today? It’s March 18, 2015. What’s the publisher done? The publisher has changed things up—the publisher’s done damage control. Smith https://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/blog/?p=16349 Sarah Young should come out and say, “You know what, you know what, we’re not, we’re not, we’re not about that, you know, we're not gonna change things up and deceive people!” Has she done that? No! Is she coming full-circle and saying “You know what—I got the wrong Jesus!” No, she’s not! So, that leaves it up to us as Christians—who read our Bibles, who test the spirits, who warn of deception, who preach the true Gospel, to say, “You know what? I don’t think Sarah Young should be listened to! In fact, I think you should take that book and get rid of it. And don’t give it to somebody, because it’s gonna lead them down a false road to a counterfeit Christ! Jesus said, “[M]any shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” The “Jesus” of Jesus Calling is a counterfeit christ—a counterfeit Jesus. Matthew 24:3-5 — “ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." Matthew 24:11-13 — “ And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." Matthew 24:23-26 — “ Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not." Satan wants to use false teachers and false prophets to deceive the church today—people who are true Christians! Many Christians think that we cannot be deceived—as Christians! Remember what Peter said, Lord, though all forsake you, I won’t! And Peter forsook Jesus, and so did the disciples, before Jesus was crucified. Matthew 26:33-35 — “ Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples." Self-deception! We can all fall into self-deception! What about “judging”? We don’t want to judge people’s hearts; we don’t want to judge Sarah Young’s heart. It seems like she has good intentions. Mathew 7:1-5 — “ Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." Beware of false prophets! Jesus said, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 7:15-23 — “ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Conclusion Would to God that Sarah Young would repent, that Sarah Young would go full-circle and apologize, and say “You know what, I’ve misled people. I’ve been deceived by a false counterfeit Jesus—a spirit masquerading as Jesus, who has given false teaching and New Age principles and concepts through this alleged listening prayer, meditative, passive listening messages”—that she’s allegedly received from Jesus. That’s our desire today is to see her repent and to turn around and say, “I’m sorry, I was wrong!” And, to see the publisher (Thomas Nelson Publishers) come out and acknowledge that they have done damage control—simply because they were exposed for the unscriptural content that they have been publishing. Only through the biblical Jesus of Nazareth could this happen— it would be a miracle! If you have been deceived by Jesus Calling , know that it’s not the biblical Jesus of Nazareth who has deceived you! Smith’s book “Another Jesus” Calling , Smith explains how New Age teachings and buzz words are being used in the book Jesus Calling. He writes, Not that long ago, New Age terms like ultimate reality, universal presence, Love-Light, Light-bearer, supernatural plane, living channel, divine alchemy, co-create, paradigm shift , and true self were sure indicators of someone's New Age/ metaphysical orientation. All these terms can now be found in books such as Jesus Calling and are rapidly becoming part of the everyday language of the church. In Sarah Young's 2012 book Jesus Today, her ‘Jesus’ refers to his “infinite intelligence.” A quick search on the Internet for the term leads to multitudinous New Age/New Thoughts websites. In New Age language, infinite intelligence refers to God “in” everyone and everything. In fact, New Age channeler Esther Hicks calls her spirit guide Abraham ‘Infinite Intelligence.’ As the church merges more and more with the spiritual language of the New Age, and also excepts New Age practices and disciplines into the church, then compromised spiritual beliefs are the result. Faith then becomes watered down, blending easily with a world where New Age beliefs are already mainstream. Ultimately, everything has to be unified for a New World Religion and a New World Order to take effect. (Warren B. Smith, " Another Jesus" Calling - How False Christs Are Entering The Church Through Contemplative Prayer (Eureka, MO: Lighthouse Trails Publishing), 3rd printing, August 2014), p. 116-117. New Age buzzwords in Jesus Calling and these are the concepts that Sarah Young has written down, saying that this “Jesus” has communicated to her. The crossover here is simply this, there is an entity that is interfacing with Sarah Young’s mind, and based on what she’s written and the exposes and the vast amount of literature now exposing her material, it’s very clear that it is not the Jesus Christ of Nazareth as we find in Scripture. I personally believe it’s a deceiving spirit—I don’t know how much clearer things can be! Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” Many undiscerning people are gonna gobble up Sarah Young’s book because they are not discerning and cannot decipher between New Age spirituality that is wrapped in Christian terminology, versus biblical theology that is straight from the text of the Bible. If a New Age “Jesus” is coming through the book Jesus Calling, and it is contradicting New Testament theology, the message of the Epistles, and the message of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, then you’ve got a counterfeit Jesus—you’ve got a false Jesus—and the Jesus of Jesus Calling is not Jesus of Nazareth! That’s it—that’s just the bottom line! There is so much material refuting this book and yet people still don’t want to hear the truth. Sarah Young was a Christian for 20 years before practicing her “listening prayer.” Quote from Sarah Young regarding Psalm 46:10 - “Be still and know that I am God.” The biblical application of Psalm 46:10 has nothing to do with “sitting with pen in hand” and “listening to God.” Cults around the world pervert this Scripture in numerous ways, as do many Christians. Many New Age/mystic/occult proponents, as well as uneducated Christians, twist and pervert Psalm 46:10 into something that it clearly does not mean. How did Sarah Young learn to “dialogue” with God? Sarah Young says she was inspired by God Calling , which is actually an occult book that was channeled from the spirit world. Sarah Young’s “monologue”…and then listening to a “still small voice.” From monologue—to dialogue—with God? There are numerous materials that clearly and concisely expose the “messages” from Sarah Young’s false Christ. Sarah Young should come out and repent and apologize to Christians everywhere. Demonic spirits that counterfeit themselves as “Jesus” are deceiving many churchgoers. Christians can be polluted and their faith can be shipwrecked by deceptive evil spirit teachings coming through false teachers. 1 Timothy 1:19 - "Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck" If you want to listen to God you must clearly understand Scripture and properly apply it to your life. Video description, originally published on Apr 26, 2016 Filmed between a 45-minute break between down-pouring rain and a storm system approaching from the horizon, this unscripted, impromptu video expresses my heart and desire to see people in the Calvary Chapel movement (and other movements) helped and healed and strengthened in their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in these last days. I have no desire to divide the Body of Christ or needlessly offend anyone who is in the Calvary Chapel movement and beyond. I am simply sharing my heart and God’s truth in light of a number of observations I have seen growing for over 25 years now, in the Calvary Chapel movement. Things now have become so blatant in the rising storm of ecumenical apostasy—that only sincere prayer and publicly declared clarion calls for humility, truth, and repentance will make any difference at all. My prayer is that God Himself by His Spirit and His Word will raise up clarion voices around the globe in this late hour. As a Christian missionary and as a former Calvary Chapel pastor for many years, I have been observing a growing trend of too many people remaining silent on far too many major ecumenical compromises. A host of other issues are also of concern. Sadly, true biblical accountability is often sidestepped and leaders (and/or church elders) either remain silent in the face of evil—perhaps out of fear of ostracism or losing their livelihood—or they willfully choose to remain ignorant when presented with documented facts. For whatever reason, when leaders are passively silent, and even suppress the truth when godly action, righteousness, and truth should prevail, God is grieved and the church sinks into malaise, confusion, and apostasy. This video was not a 'planned' event. I was actually standing on the beach alone, praying. As I was watching the rising storm clouds on the distant horizon and observing the turbulent waves, I was reminded of the flood of shameful compromise and storm of spiritual apostasy that is taking over churches and families worldwide. As I began to share my heart and thoughts in this video, some local bystanders slowed down to listen, perhaps you, like them, will seriously consider what I was saying. Altogether, my heart is for pastors, for church leaders, and for fellow believers in Jesus Christ. My heartfelt exhortation is the same as Jude’s in the early days of Christianity, and my sincere prayer is that all who have ears to hear, will hear—for God’s glory—and that laymen and leaders alike, will take heed, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3). “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4: 11-16) See also Confronting Abusive Leaders! Famine in the Land Yet God Remains Faithful Psalm 89 A psalm (Maskil) of Ethan the Ezrahite Author: Ethan (or one of his descendants) is the author of this Psalm. Ethan is possibly the Levitical leader and one of the head musicians/singers in the Temple (1 Chronicles 6:42; 15:17-19). Historical context: God had promised to make David the mightiest King on earth (2 Sam. 7; 1 Kin. 8:23; 1 Chr. 17; 2 Chr. 21:7; Ps. 110). In doing so, God would protect David and David’s descendants (2 Sam. 7:13; 16, 18), and ultimately Messiah Jesus would reign from David’s throne - forever (Luke 1:31-33). Even though Jerusalem was destroyed and no kings were reigning in Jerusalem at this time, God remained faithful and He continues to carry out His promises. God’s promises are - and forever will be - fulfilled through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Messianic descendant of David (Matt. 1:1; Luke 3:23-28) and the Eternal Prophet, Priest, and King of Israel (Heb. 1:1-10:18). Looking beyond the pale of the author’s personal national dilemma - the apparent total ruin of the Davidic monarchy - the author chooses to focus on the LORD and His greatness, regardless of his own personal circumstances and future. As always, man is humbled, and God is glorified. In one word, with restored confidence in God and His Word, the author closes with, “Blessed be the LORD forever! Satanism, Witchcraft and Halloween A sober warning about the kingdom of darkness! This audio message is from a series of lectures on the dangers of Occultism and many practices associated with it. Recorded in the late 1990s during an outreach in San Luis Obispo, CA - when Chris was serving as a pastor in that same city - the message includes several audio clips from other speakers as well. From Worry to Worship - The Just Shall Live by Faith Truths from the Book of Habakkuk Habakkuk: Meaning “He that embraces; a wrestler” or “the strong embrace of God.” Context: Worshipping the true God in the midst of a disintegrating culture. Main point: From Habakkuk worrying about national circumstances to Habakkuk worshipping the true God. 1. The Prophet Perplexed (1:1-4) - Habakkuk sees great evil in the land and he is perplexed that God does not punish the iniquity of Judah. 2. As more and more churches and Christian movements are being boldly deceived into embracing occult principles wrapped in Christian terminology, the discerning believer in Christ must not remain silent! Postural Yoga is designed to physically and spiritually open up the “psychic” senses. b. The aim of all Yoga is to arouse Kundalini shakti - the serpent power of Hinduism. c. The ultimate end result of yoga is, “a progressive dismantling of human personality ending in a complete abolition.” d. Quote from the Encyclopedia of New Age Beliefs (John Ankerberg and John Weldon) : “This is why people who practice yoga only for physical or mental health reasons are ultimately the victims of a confidence game. They are promised better health; little do they suspect the end goal of yoga is to destroy them as individuals. As yoga authorities Feuerstein and Miller comment, yoga results in "a progressive dismantling of human personality ending in a complete abolition. With every step ( anga ) of Yoga, what we call 'man' is demolished a little more.” (George Feuerstein, Jeanine Miller, Yoga and Beyond: Essays in Indian Philosophy, New York: Schockenn, 1972.) Note also that Dr. Georg Feuerstein (born 1947) is a German-Canadian Indologist who has authored over 45 books on mysticism, Yoga, Tantra, and Hinduism, and Buddhism. 12. The progression and the ultimate goal of yoga leads to delusion and the destruction of the individual human. 13. Warnings, acknowledgments, and dangers from the authoritative yoga texts. a. “Giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons” (1 Tim 4:1). b. Why so many quotes in this audio - because the warnings are authoritative, documented, and published. c. Quotes: - What about the Occult? - Risks and Hazards of Yoga. - Kundalini arousal. d. Spontaneous yoga poses fueled by occult power can manifest at the whim of the forces of darkness. 14. Christianity and Eastern occult religions cannot be combined or blended. a. Manifestations, psychoses, painful and agonizing experiences, and extreme delusion as ”spiritual emergencies.” These are actually demonic possession states wrongly labeled as states and stages of “personal metamorphosis,” “healing,” the alleged “cycle of inner death and rebirth,” and “spiritual transformation” that (as the Grof’s believe) bring healing through a connection to a transcendent Higher Power or Higher Self. c. The Biblical Gospel versus Yoga (i.e., Hindu occult Self-Realization). d. God’s wrath against sin versus His judgment on sin at the cross and the current and future hope of the Christian. e. John 3:36 - “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” f. John 8:21-24 - “Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. The Necessity of Biblical and Discerning Pastors Ephesians 4:11-16 This audio includes a brief overview of Ephesians chapters 1-3 and an expositional study of Ephesians 4:11-16. It also serves as a clarion call to pastors and church leaders to "Prove [test] all things, hold fast that which is good" (1 Thes. 5:21). Based on Ephesians 4:11-16, the Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul makes it very clear that pastors are to equip the saints for the work of ministry. Many pastors and church leaders in our day, including countless church elders and youth leaders, are not only not teaching the whole counsel of God, but they are also allowing many aberrant and heretical teachings into the Body of Christ. This leaven of false teaching comes through in sharing speaking platforms with false teachers, the allowance of false teaching in church “book” studies, conferences, and compromised bookstores.
