The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl contenders. It’s that simple. This team has been dominating and with a decisive win last week against the Ravens in their house, the Eagles appear on their way for a true postseason run. This week, Brandon Lee Gowton - better known as BLG - from BleedingGreenNation.com joined us for a deep dive into this team, what we’ve been seeing and what these new expectations look like for us fans. It was a great discussion!
But first, the guys began their discussion about Major League Baseball’s and Rob Manfred’s idea about a “Golden At-Bat” rule. Plus, should robo umps make it to the big leagues? (Approx. 6:00)
From there, the guys dove into some Philadelphia Union talk as this team is going to look much different in 2025. (Approx. 21:30)
Are the Flyers getting back to their 2023-2024 season form? (Approx. 29:30)
The guys also got into some College Football Playoff Bracket talk as we’re starting to get a better picture of who the 12 teams may be. (Approx. 37:40)
The Eagles proved a lot in their matchup against the Ravens this past week. They appear to be for real. (Approx. 44:10)
On the Table this week, Brandon Lee Gowton from Bleeding Green Nation joined us to discuss this Eagles team on both offense and defense. Should we be giving Vic Fangio even more credit for coaching the No. 1 defense in the league? How has the pass rush come alive? What Jalen Hurts’ detractors need to understand about his style of play. What should we make of the tight end position moving forward? All of this and much more on the Table this week! (Approx. 50:50)

What can we expect to see from both teams during this divisional matchup at The Linc this Sunday? Topics Bret and Jeff dove into: - A look at how the Rams are the one NFL team who is currently rolling in the playoffs. - How the Rams wide receivers and the Eagles cornerbacks matchup may end up looking. - The Eagles offensive line and Rams defensive line, a battle in the trenches! - Where are the Rams strongest this week against the Eagles and where might they be able to take advantage of the Birds? 26:17This week on TABLE TALK , Jeff sat down with Ryan Roberts from A to Z Sports for a great and in-depth discussion about the expanded College Football Playoff. Was it all that it was cracked up to be, and how should we assess the first year of the expanded playoff system? Topics that Ryan and Jeff dove into: - How effective was the initial seeding as we saw teams like SMU and Indiana making the bracket? - It wasn’t the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded teams who were the strongest. What we learned as the No. 7 and No. 8 seed teams head to the National Championship game. - Reflecting on Penn State’s run through the playoffs and the loss to Notre Dame. - What can we expect from both Notre Dame and Ohio State in the national title game? The Wild Card playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers here in the 2024-2025 season is now in the books! The Eagles defeated the Packers by a score of 22-10 down at The Linc. The Eagles now look to the divisional round of the playoffs after an incredible defensive performance. Jalen Hurts was back under center after being out with a concussion over the past few weeks. While he did not have the greatest game on the stat sheet, he did not turn the ball over, and ran the offense well. Saquon Barkley rushed for 4.8 yards per carry, 119 yards on the ground throughout this game. Vic Fangio’s defense, played incredible at all levels against the Packers offense. Quarterback Jordan Love was consistently pressured. The defense ended up with 3 interceptions, and only held this Packers offense to 10 points. As always, we gave our top themes, thoughts and opinions from the game on offense, defense, and special teams, and then graded each unit on both sides of the ball, as well as the coaching staff. It was great to have our friend of the pod Josh Shuster from PhiladelphiaSoccerNow.com join us this week for our analysis. 1:04:12As we look towards this NFL postseason, we can say without a doubt the Philadelphia Eagles are a complete team on both offense and defense. What will see this week from the Birds against the Green Bay Packers in this Wild Card matchup? This week, Lou DiBiase from the Locked on Eagles podcast joined us to break it all down. But first, the guys discussed the Phillies offseason acquisitions thus far and their feelings towards the hot stove season. (Approx. 3:20) From there, they talked about the Sixers and the upcoming January schedule, which is brutal. (Approx. 15:35) The Union have made some moves during their offseason. Most notably, hiring Bradley Carnell as their next head coach. (Approx. 25:10) The guys then discussed the goalie situation for the Flyers at the moment, which isn’t positive. Their collective save percentage is dismal. (Approx. 36:20) From there, the guys dove into this Eagles team and exceptions for the playoffs. (Approx. 42:35) What they threw down on the Table this week was an in-depth discussion with Lou DiBiase from the Locked on Eagles podcast about what we can expect to see from the No. 2 seed Eagles on both sides of the ball this week against the No. 7 seed Packers. A discussion about the Eagles o-line against the Packers defensive front. Can the Packers secondary contain WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith? What are the biggest vulnerabilities for the Birds heading into this Wild Card matchup? All of this and much more this week on the Table! 30:05On this week’s OPPOSITION TERRITORY pod, we’re previewing the Wild Card matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers. Evan “Tex” Western from SB Nation’s AcmePackingCompany.com joined us this week for our preview! The Eagles are coming into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the NFC while the Packers are the No. 7 seed. Can the Packers overcome some of the adversity they’ve been plagued with over the past two weeks? Can the Eagles dominate on both sides of the ball? What might we see within this Wild Card matchup? Topics Tex and Jeff dove into: - Which quarterback - both coming off injuries - has the edge heading into this game? - What might the Packers offensive balance between the rushing game and passing game look like? - The Eagles love throwing to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in the perimeter or the field where the Packers corners may be vulnerable. - Will the Packers linebackers have an impact when trying to stop Saquon Barkley this week? What grades do we give the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers here in January 2025? Topics that Tony and Jeff dove into: - Assessing Eagles GM Howie Roseman, his tenure over the past few years, and has he created a new standard for GMs in the NFL? - How should we be looking at and assessing Sixers GM Daryl Morey? - What grades have the Sixers and Flyers earned? - Are the Phillies in good shape heading into this 2025 season? Week 18 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2024-2025 season is now in the books as they have completed their regular season by beating the New York Giants by a score of 20-13 down at The Linc. The Eagles now look to the playoffs. They’ll be facing the Green Bay Packers at The Linc this next weekend. But this was a fun last regular season win while watching most of the backups. This game felt like a preseason game as we watched third-string quarterback Tanner McKee beat the Giants defense. While the Giants are a bad football team, they played their No. 1 players for most of the game. Hats off to McKee for his first NFL and Eagles win as a starting quarterback. It was also nice to see Eagles WR Jahan Dotson getting 11 targets in this game for 94 yards. Vic Fangio’s defense, mainly backups, played well against the Giants starters on offense. Holding them to just 13 points, we saw some nice play from all three levels of the defense. As always, we gave our top themes, thoughts and opinions from the game on offense, defense, and special teams, and then graded each unit on both sides of the ball, as well as the coaching staff. 22:12On this week’s OPPOSITION TERRITORY pod, we’re previewing the Week 18 matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants. Patricia Traina from the Locked On Giants podcast, and writer for New York Giants at S.I. joined us this week for our preview! The Eagles have indicated they are resting many of their starters heading into the final game of the regular season. However, there are players on the New York Giants that have something to prove as the team and organization move forward after a very disappointing year. What might we see within this week 18 matchup? Topics Patricia and Jeff dove into: - The Saquon Barkley storyline: are we comparing apples to oranges when it comes to what Saquon has done with the Eagles this season? - The conundrum with tanking for a better draft pick and players who want to prove their worth. - Bright spots for the Giants on both offense and defense long-term. - Who should we be looking at on the Giants in week 18 this weekend? Week 17 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2024-2025 season is now in the books as they completely steamrolled the Dallas Cowboys down at The Linc in Philly by a score of 41-7. The Eagles have now officially clinched the NFC East Division Title this season and outscored the Cowboys this season 75-13 in the two games along with 8 takeaways. One word: dominant! Jalen Hurts was sidelined this game due to the concussion he received last week in the game against the Commanders. Kenny Pickett played well in the first half of the game until he was then injured. The Eagles third-string quarterback, Tanner McKee, then came into the game and threw two touchdowns to seal the game. The offense was clicking in the second quarter and throughout the second half. Vic Fangio’s defense was, once again, back to form as they had four takeaways in this game. C.J. Gardner-Johnson played tremendous football as he came down with two interceptions. The pass rush was so incredibly disruptive. Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush only threw for 147 yards on the day. The Eagles defense was dominant. As always, we gave our top themes, thoughts and opinions from the game on offense, defense, and special teams, and then graded each unit on both sides of the ball, as well as the coaching staff. 25:58On this week’s OPPOSITION TERRITORY pod, we’re previewing the Week 17 matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. David Howman from BloggingTheBoys.com and The Writers Black podcast joined us this week for our preview! The Eagles are coming off a sloppy loss to the Commanders as they look to lock in the NFC East title. We still don’t know if Jalen Hurts or Kenny Pickett will be under center this Sunday. Can the Cowboys play spoiler to the Eagles? It should be a great NFC East game this Sunday! Topics Dave and Jeff dove into: -Looking back at this Cowboys year, and even the previous offseason, which led the team to this point. -CeeDee Lamb has done some damage for the Cowboys offense in previous weeks. Will we see the same dominance this week? -How does the Cowboys defense prepare for possibly two quarterbacks this coming week? -What are the matchups we’re looking at closely on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball? This week on TABLE TALK, Jeff sat down with O.J. Spivey, award winning writer and columnist at The Philadelphia Tribune, to discuss and analyze the Philadelphia 76ers new arena proposal. It was a great discussion that focused on how the City of Philadelphia government has handled this development, as well as the pros and cons of placing this arena proposal right in Center City Philadelphia. Topics that O.J. and Jeff dove into: -How has the city government handled the arena proposal from both a governance and community standpoint rightout outside of Chinatown? -Should the public believe Apollo Global Management Group’s and the Sixers rosey picture they’ve painted about what this will mean for this section of the city? -Analyzing the pros and cons of this arena project. -What are the chances that this project can and will come together and truly benefit everyone involved? Week 16 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2024-2025 season is now in the books as they lose their third game of the season to the Washington Commanders down in Landover, MD by a score of 36-33. The Eagles are now 12-3 on the season. While they are still first in the NFC East division, they have not yet clinched it. The biggest theme coming out from this game was Jalen Hurts exiting in the first quarter with a concussion. Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett came into the game and produced mixed results. Not great, not terrible. Just meh. Without Hurts being in the game, it showed us how valuable he also is to the rushing attack and what Saquon Barkley has been able to do game after game. Although Saquon Barkley ran for 150 yards in this game, and now has 1,838 yards on the season, he still had a tough time rushing the ball without the presence of Hurts. Two key drops from Barkley and WR DeVonta Smith were critical at the end of the game as well. Vic Fangio’s defense had a rough afternoon as the injury bug was hitting his unit. Plus, C.J. Gardner-Johnson was ejected in the second half after receiving his second unsportsmanlike penalty. The linebacker play was phenomenal per usual, but the defense overall was gassed by the fourth quarter, as Jayden Daniels threw five touchdowns in this game overall. The Eagles defense hasn't given up that many touchdowns in any game this season. As always, we gave our top themes, thoughts and opinions from the game on offense, defense, and special teams, and then graded each unit on both sides of the ball, as well as the coaching staff.
