183 Warning Signs: 5 (Subtle) Signs a Relationship is Headed for Trouble
Manage episode 438968528 series 2907398
Dr. John Gottman, a famous couple’s therapist and relationship researcher, has identified four warning signs that a relationship is doomed. They are criticism, contempt, defensiveness and stonewalling. If any of those are occurring between two people, he’s found that the relationship won’t last.
And that makes sense, right? They are sort of obvious red flags.
But in this episode, Roy identifies five subtle issues, dynamics that are not as obvious, yet just as dangerous and destructive. Being aware of the not-so-obvious issues that can ruin a relationship equips and prepares you for a healthy, sustainable, intimate relationship.
You will learn…
…why relational warning signs should be treated like medical warning signs;
…the antidotes to criticism, contempt, defensiveness & stonewalling;
…the five subtle signs a relationship is headed for trouble;
…and what to do about the subtle signs when/if they show up in your relationship;
…and much more!
