Sonya has enjoyed a diverse and varied career starting out in transport planning before multiple management roles at organisations including a diversity and inclusion consultancy; global energy and facilities group; multi-brand recruitment agency; transport startup, Top 20 accountancy firm and a global engineering group.

Sonya has been a member of Women in Transport (WIT) for 12 years and was a board member for 7 years, before being appointed to her current role as CEO in January 2019. WIT is a dynamic, not-for-profit association that supports the professional development of women working in transport through networking, mentoring and raising awareness of the opportunities in the sector.
