After raping and sodomizing a 17-year-old, George Mercer, alleged leader of The Missing Links Motorcycle Club, told the girl not to tell police. After she pressed charges, Mercer told a member of the club to torch her house. Mercer didn't realize the girl had moved out and a new family had moved in. Patricia Schwartz and her baby daughter were killed in the house fire on August 31, 1978. Meanwhile, on that same day, Mercer and members of his gang raped, sodomized, and then murdered Karen Keaton. Mercer was found guilty in Karen's death and was sentenced to death in 1989. David Eyman's murder--he was found burned alive on August 14, 1974, was believed by David's mother, to possibly be tied to The Missing Links.
