×At least once a week throughout the course of 2024, Matthew Burgess has shared insights in relation to business model iterations, the future of the professions, time billing and many other insights and observations. In this special event, Matthew reviews the highs and lows from 2024 in what will be a fast paced, thought-provoking and at times likely controversial one hour webinar. Best of all, the entry price is at one of Matthew’s favourite price points, namely, free! As (infamously) confirmed by The Godfather, the success and the strength of a family, lies in its loyalty to each other. Historically a tool almost exclusively leveraged by high net wealth families, increasingly family constitutions are being used as an approach to help manage wealth across generations. There are however significant risks with family constitutions that all advisers in the holistic estate planning space need to be aware of. This webinar will use story sharing to explore the key aspects of family constitutions, including: Why family constitutions can be useful What key issues should be addressed in any family constitution. When should morally binding arrangements be entered into When should legally enforceable arrangements be used What are the key risk areas advisers must avoid For access to more webinars and resources join one (or all) of the View Communities . Perhaps because the risks are so material, fails in ultra high net wealth holistic estate plans continue to captivate advisers and the public alike. Behind the headlines however, the underlying legal and commercial principles are often extremely instructive for all advisers, regardless of the ‘source’ being estates valued multiple times more than may generally be the case. This webinar will leverage story telling to explore numerous lessons advisers should be aware of from some of the highest profile – and highest value – estate planning disasters (and a few success stories) Australia has seen, including: Ken Talbot Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Rupert Murdoch Michael Hutchence (of INXS fame) and his mother Peter Wright Lang Hancock Gina Rinehart (including all key cases, of which there have been many ..) Ongoing changes to Australia’s tax and regulatory framework have had an enormous impact on virtually all business structures. Arguably the key risk however for customers and advisers alike is failing to manage the fundamental asset protection risks in business structuring. This session will use liberal story sharing to provide: a comprehensive overview of the latest strategies to mitigate asset protection risks; an overview of the key issues to consider when establishing new businesses; specific examples demonstrating how to restructure existing businesses; and an overlay and analysis of the various tax and stamp duty rules advisers should be aware of. Many observers are predicting that the impending changes to the professional services industries will be unprecedented. A ‘perfect storm’ across issues such as digital disruption, de-leveraging and new entrants mean that the only certainty will be change. The key question for every professional is – what do we do? The perennial questions for many are centred around how to charge for the services delivered. While there have always been risks with charging by the hour, those risks may become catastrophic as alternative advice solutions continue to rise in acceptance Timeless professional service firms appear to continue to thrive, and in this webinar Team View use story sharing to answer the ‘timeless questions about going timeless ‘ – 2 chargeable units (times 1 year; AKA 12 years) after first abandoning timesheets back in 2012, including: How do you know if team members are working? How do you know if you are making money? What metrics are used instead of hours recorded and recovered? What if clients demand a time print out or itemised account? What about areas such as transactional work and litigation – surely they can’t be fixed priced? Where do we start? Should we still keep recording time, just in case? In many holistic estate planning exercises, superannuation is either the second largest – or largest – asset. As superannuation savings continue to accumulate the number of disputes in relation to death benefit payments also seems to be growing. Particularly in the SMSF space, it is critical for advisers to understand the interplay between the various superannuation rules on the payment of a death benefit; not least of which the decision on whether to utilise some form of binding nomination. This webinar will help advisers get off risk in this area by exploring a range of issues, including: The various forms of superannuation nominations Why binding nominations are rarely the right approach What exactly is a ‘superannuation will’ What wins: BDBN or reversionary pension Should I be concerned about the notional estate regime Story sharing, including from leading court cases For access to more webinars and resources join one (or all) of the View Communities . Many specialist advisers have business plans that consist of one word – ‘trusts’. A significant reason for this is the myriad of seemingly never ending problems with trust deeds. In the lead up to another 30 June, this webinar will explore numerous trust ‘horror’ stories that View has helped resolve – all shared with the aim of helping avoid similar problems arising in the future. Every year since 2017 View’s ‘Trust Horror Stories’ webinars have been one of our most popular events, the 2024 webinar is entirely new content, sourced from the last 12 months. Families that do not endure relationship breakdowns, or at least significant differences in opinions, are essentially unicorns in the modern world. To ensure advisers are off-risk – and adding value – holistic estate planning strategies to manage the ‘outlaws’ are essentially compulsory. This event will explore a range of key approaches and recent developments including: Structuring new trusts to achieve appropriate safety Conversion of existing trusts to achieve adequate protection Approaches in the design of testamentary trusts Legitimately minimising the rights of estranged family members Story sharing, including from leading court cases For access to more webinars and resources join one (or all) of the View Communities .
