In this episode of VBC Pod, we sit down with Thomas Brown, a former Australian Army soldier who served from 2007–2019, including deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq as part of 3rd Battalion and 2nd Commando Regiment. Thomas also served as a Special Forces K9 handler, an experience that deeply shaped both his career and personal mission.
After surviving a personal crisis in 2018, Thomas channelled his purpose into businesses and initiatives aimed at saving lives. He founded:
- The Stoic Dog (2019–2023) – dog training with a mission-driven approach
- Origin K9 (2020–present) – tactical K9 equipment
- The Origin Initiative (2025–present) – suicide and crisis prevention presentations
Thomas is unapologetically purpose-driven, using business as a vehicle to prevent crisis and suicide in others and himself. In this conversation, he shares the lessons from his military service, surviving personal hardship, and translating those experiences into impact-driven ventures.
