The Foundation of Marriage and the Context of Divorce
Welcome to this episode and 3 part series of True Word, Faith for LIFE!, where we explore biblical truths that often get overshadowed by tradition. I’m Dr. Shawn Michael Greener, and today, we’re diving into a topic that has left many confused, hurt, and even ostracized: “Divorce. What does the Bible actually say about it?”
Why did I write, then rewrite the academic paper that prompted this three part series, then present the series as a two part series, and then totally rewrite this series into a three part series for real people? This isn’t just an academic topic for me—it’s personal. Years ago, I walked through a very painful divorce and faced the weight of misinterpreted Scripture and teaching that I actually believed, judgment, and rejection from many who prior to the divorce thought highly of me, or so I thought. I know I’m not alone in this.
If you’ve been hurt and felt cast out because of divorce, this series is for you.
I ask only one thing: listen to the entire series. Approach it with humility and patience, because biblical truth often challenges our assumptions. Let’s walk this journey together. It’s okay if at the end, you still don’t agree.
